 It's been a minute

I could not let February go by without a blog post.  School has been very time-consuming, now that we are all focussed on our "Master Tracks", in my case, Urban Planning and Policy.  My group has been busy with a case study of a small town in Namibia called Oshakati.  I have interviewed the finance director of the town and talked to him about problems and concerns in the city, in particular, the issue of housing. Here's Damian Hamunyela -

And here is my student team talking to Damian and other 'stakeholders' in Oshakati, during a conference call, during which we talked about housing, infrastructure, flooding:

After reading about Oshakati and talking to the people there, I have made a proposal to focus my thesis on Namibia with the prospect of going there to study their housing situation and to collect data - yes, Africa!  So who knows - that may be my next stop.   Nothing settled yet but I would love to do it.

In the meantime, spring is here in Rotterdam - the days are longer, the sun is out, though still cold and windy.  But the flowers are blooming....

Enjoy -

  1. Well Judy There are many different ways to learn about other cultures. Books, TV, online but the only way to truly experience it is boots on the ground meeting and talking to them in Namibia.
