Protesting in Rotterdam

Affordable Housing - a problem everywhere, even here in the idyllic Netherlands, where the Internet is cheap, bikes are everywhere and, well the weather isn't perfect, but that's another story.  One of my fellow students, Tina, organized us to attend the housing protest on Sunday, and of course I had to go.

After two hours of talking, I decided not to stay for the march,  since I had my first paper to finish and hand in the next day.  And good thing - apparently 50 people were arrested on their way to the center of town. - I think a few people had weapons - yikes!

The protesters are asking for substantial government intervention into the private housing market - restrictions of short-term rental, rent control and guarantees on availability and affordability of housing.  There were about 2,000 people there - take a look:
