Back to School

Yes, time to get back to the books, after three weeks off, starting with a course on GIS - Geographic Information Systems.  I have taken GIS before and loved it so I was very excited to start this course - I love maps! GIS can bring data to life and make information so much more accessible than a list of numbers and a set of charts.  Here's two maps that I worked on, - our focus was the city of San Francisco.

And there was still time for a bit of socializing.  I hosted a few new friends - all from Egypt - for dinner and UNO.  Yes UNO - I have not played that game in years but these guys are obsessed with it and very good at it.

I am getting closer to my thesis work and will soon have to decide on a topic.  Since I can do whatever I want (I am not going to be lobbying for a job or a PhD as will most of my fellow students), I will focus on a topic that I am passionate about.  Both affordable housing and sustainable mobility have been under consideration, with affordable housing now in the lead.  Stay tuned and enjoy the snow!!

  1. Good luck on your GIA course Judy and it looks like you have made some lifelong friends there. Choosing something you are passionate about always take it out of the realm of just work.
